Manche(a)ster United..

On Grand Slam (as described the pundits) Sunday, Manchester United showed every reason why they should be winning the EPL crown this year too. With just three points separating Manu and ‘Arse’nal, it was crucial for Fergie’s side to post a win. 5 wins in a row in the league, and terminating Inter Milan’s title hopes in the UEFA champs, (but still 4th in the league.. he he), Liverpool, on top form was looking forward to seizing their first win against England’s Most Wanted Club under Rafael Benitez.

Right from the word go, Manu were on target and Pepe Reina, the Liverpool goalie was kept busy throughout. Rio had recovered from a back problem and his presence in the field showed, keeping the dangerous Torres in check. The Spaniard hassled and tussled with the defenders but all his efforts went in vain. Manu forged ahead before the break thro’ Wes Brown, heading in the ball (he scored with his back actually), latching onto a Wayne Rooney cross from the right flank. Also, Javier Mascherano was sent off the field for dissent (Is he nuts or what? Didn’t he know the Referee was the twelfth man at Old Trafford? :D ) Rooney and Ronaldo came agonizingly close to scoring on two occasions. However Ronaldo did score finally in the 79th minute, what was his 34th goal this season (En sishyan allava! ;)). Rafa would have wanted it to end as fast as possible now, but the Red Giants weren’t finished yet. Two minutes later, Rooney slipped in a ball to the 21 year old Portuguese winger Nani, who unleashed a strike, after cutting in through with a classy first touch and GOAL!! The youngster celebrated the goal with his trademark back flips. It was celebration time for United’s fans as the Merseyside suffered their worst defeat of the season. United dominated possession and it could have easily been 5-nil if they had taken all the chances.

Arsenal losing to Drogba’s Chelsea later were extra toppings to the Manu fans celebrations. The Red Devils have showed courage and great character all season and the encounter with Liverpool on Easter Sunday just underlined their quality. Quality which made them the second richest club in the world, Quality they had when they finished 2nd in the league after losing nine starting players in the Munich Air Disaster, Quality that created players such as Duncan Edwards, Bryan Robson, George Best, Brain McClair, Eric Cantona, David Beckham, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Giggs, Rooney, Ronaldo into what they are today, Quality they have shown in winning 10 Premier league titles (yeah 2007-08 is included too ;)), 11 FA cups, 16 community shields and two European cups (few other titles too), Quality which makes them Arguably the Best Club in the World!

Manchester United they are the best,
They stand out above all the rest,
No matter what people say,
You should see Manchester on a match day,

Come on you reds, come on you reds
Just keep your bottle and use your heads
For ninety minutes we'll let them know
Who's Man United, here we go

Glory Glory Man United!

Detention With Dolores ?!?

I still remember that ill-fated morning in great detail. Right from the moment my optic organs woke up following a late night sleep (padichitu irunthaen pa! ;) ) to the moment they closed for yet another one. Hmmm maybe affronted occasions are not forgotten that easy. March 5,two 0 eight should have been just another routine day at college but instead..

Thursdays are exasperating for several reasons.. uniform, lab work, double Digi-sys, C pro and no free hours. :( I woke up late (as usual) and would have skipped bath if it hadn't been for mom's persistent efforts. Wondering why colleges had to start early morning disturbing studs from their hibernation, I got myself ready. Nivas a.k.a Nivi was waiting in his gleaming, lustrous new Apache RTR 160. A hilarious face that never stops smiling, russet brown eyes that matches with the color of his hair, clothes classy in his own way, everything about this guy is cheerful. But not that day though. We didn’t even exchange a smile (courtesy of the kutti squabble the day before). I was half a sleep and would have fallen off the bike if the horn hadn't revived me to life. A middle-aged lady was crossing the road seeing the opposite direction to which the cars were speeding(towards her left). Where did she think she was? in America?!? The bike ride was usually eventful, both us devoid of a driving license, cant afford it to be caught by a traffic sergeant which could cost us 550 bucks or make us late for college or do both. It was different that day though, not speaking more than a few words to each other till we reached the parking lot, where we parted for our classes.

The third and fourth sessions were lab hours and so we (Vishwa and me) usually forsake the first two hours to finish off unfinished lab work. We settled down at the Pump house. I wouldn’t have even jotted down through one page of the experiment which we were supposed to submit last week, when I heard Sowmiya’s voice. There were also a half dozen boys accompanying him. Students who were involved in the act of disrupting behavior during EDC classes last week were asked to meet the HOD and we didn’t known it meant us until they read out the names. So my sweet classmates had come to the pump house to take me along with them (Pasakaaara Payalunga!). We set out joyfully for our first enquiry at college.

What was expected to be a joyous event (ok, not exactly ;)) turned out to be one hell of a ride. The HOD was an elderly woman, slightly shorter than me and nearly twice as heavy as me. We were reprimanded for our behavior and were labeled as “dangerous specimens” who might spoil other students (as if they were infants walking around with books!). What started like the usual first-and-last-warning , turned out be much more than that. It went on and on for nearly an hour out of which 15 mins were dedicated specially for me and my hairstyle. We were finally let go and I returned to the pump house marvelling at the brilliant start i have had to the day. The EDC lab was insipid as usual n I had to skip lunch to finish off the experiment.

I went to the Satellite Canteen (2 plastic tables, 6 chairs, few chocolates and even fewer biscuit packets along with coffee, tea and vada) along with some mech students to celebrate my coup at the department. I returned to class pronto as it was C pro the next hour. The sir started something about Binary tree. It was all returning now. Getting caught by the staff for doing something , which everyone other than them considered funny. Being rebuked for our actions (as if we had committed sins worth a life time imprisonment). Wasn’t this what happened at school to me? I was stirred from my slumber, as two boys came into the class and handed over the prof. a circular (we kept our fingers crossed for holidays). It read “IV for the second semester students have been cancelled due to the following students :” and all our names were listed.

OMG, Here we go again..
